“You are who you’re with” is one of those sayings my mama loved to say. So now I want to say the same thing to you. The people you spend the most time with are who you will become.
I think it’s great to have a variety of people in your life. Think about the takeaways you get from each person; some are good, some are not so good; and some are awesome. So why not spend most of your time with those who get the “awesome” rating?
I have some people and friends that I laugh with; learn from; mentor, and those that I lean on when I need a friend. My time spent with each creates a totally different experience. But, after my time spent, I feel equally awesome. I don’t feel heavy, depressed, annoyed, or negative in any way.
So as you walk through your days, are your friends anchors or helium balloons? Do they bring you down or lift you up?
Never forget that you have all the power to create and recreate your tribe until you get it right. Do not allow any space for jealousy, criticism, negativity, or any influence that is not in your best interest no matter what it is.
Believe me when I tell you, my mama is right when it comes to this one. So take inventory, make adjustments. and have the courage and wisdom to take care of you. No one else has the power to do that any better!
